Brexit Q&A

Here you will find answers to Brexit related questions.

The UKโ€™s withdrawal from the EU entered into force on 1 January 2021, and with it many things change for how the UK and EU will live, work and trade together. The changes brought on by Brexit will have an impact on Finnish people and companies operating in Finland.

How will Brexit affect you as an alumni or student of Henley Business School in Finland? Will your qualification or degree still be recognised? How does Brexit impact future travel to the UK for your studies?  We have gathered information to the most relevant and urgent questions below.

Recognition of UK-based university qualifications/degrees

Is a UK-based university qualification/degree still recognised in EU countries?

Higher education across Europe is regulated through the Bologna Process, including the existence of a consistent three-cycle higher education system and the mutual recognition of qualifications and degrees. The United Kingdom has been a full member of the Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area since 1999. Therefore, Brexit has no impact on your university qualification or degree achieved from Henley Business School.

Travelling to UK

How does Brexit impact travel to the UK for students from Finland?

When travelling to the UK, your Finnish passport or ID card has to be valid for the duration of your trip, and Finnish citizens do not need a visa.

According to the current information, starting from 1 January 2021 EU citizens can visit UK visa free up to six months. You will not be able to use your national ID card to enter the UK from 1 October 2021 and will need a passport instead.

If you are not a Finnish citizen, please check your entry requirements here.

GDPR

How does Brexit impact the exchange of data between the European Union and the UK?

Henley Business School Finlandโ€™s data servers are all located in the European Union. However, we are required to exchange student and alumni data with Henley Business School in the UK. Henley Business School in the UK must after Brexit comply with the DPA 2018 and UK GDPR, and the EU GDPR as they offer goods and services to EU residents, and the school in the UK has taken all necessary steps to fulfil these requirements.
