What can leaders do to survive the complexity of leading people from different cultures?
In this session we will cover the roadblocks to leading people from different cultures and what to do to become more effective at it.
The main focus will be understanding the different expectations of leadership in different cultures and deciding how you will deal with them.
This practical, interactive and fun session will comprise stories and short case studies, along with the opportunity to self-reflect and share with others.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the event you will have:
- Improved your insight into the opportunities and challenges of working across cultures
- An understanding of the differences in expectations from leaders across cultures and the influence on business
- Reflected practically on how to deal with these differences
Who should attend?
Anyone who wishes to gain insights into leading across cultures, those who are trying to become more effective at this or individuals who simply have an interest in working across different cultures.
Speaker

Jean Vanhoegaerden is a professor of practice at Ashridge/Hult Business School and is responsible for design and delivery of international executive programmes. In addition, he is responsible for the Leadership and Leading Globally syllabus on MBA and EMBA programmes. Jean is also visiting professor at LBS, Vlerick Business School and HKUST.
His interest is in linking the strategic aspects to the ‘softer areas’ in business. Jean has taught executive courses in North and Latin America, Europe, Singapore, South Africa, Australia and the Middle and Far East, which gives him lots of examples from real-life situations.
