What’s the point of coaching research? Gratitude and long-term change; Professor Riddell talks Neuroscience.

Dr Rebecca Jones is joined by lecturers in coaching Karen Foy and Aboodi Shabi, as they kickstart the first episode of our Coaching@Henley podcast.

This episode starts with a discussion about ‘Why Research Anyway’ followed by our ‘Spotlight on Research’ segment. This week’s research focuses on a paper by Paniota Tron and Jolenta Burk, which looks at coaching, positive psychology and gratitude.

The episode finishes with an expert interview with Professor Patricia Riddell discussing neuroscience and coaching. Professor Riddell is a Professor of Applied Neuroscience at the University of Reading and specialises in how neuroscience can be applied in the business world, supporting and extending understanding of human behaviour to solve practical business challenges. Rebecca Jones - Henley Business School Suomessa

Dr Rebecca Jones

Rebecca is an Associate Professor in Coaching at Henley Business School, the Director of the Henley Centre for Coaching and a Chartered Psychologist. Her research interests lie in examining the factors that influence coaching effectiveness. Passionate about evidence-based practice and teaching, she incorporates her research into her teaching practice at Henley’s Centre for Coaching.

Rebecca is the author of the book ‘Coaching with Research in Mind’ and has published her research in leading journals such as Academy of Management Learning & Education, the Journal of Occupational & Organizational Psychology and the European Journal of Work & Organizational Psychology.

Aboodi Shabi - Henley Business School Finland

Aboodi Shabi

Aboodi is a Lecturer in Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School.

He has been working in executive coaching and coach training since the mid 1990s and has several years of international coaching, training and leadership development experience. He has delivered coach-training programmes and worked with executives and teams all over the world, in sectors ranging from NGOs to financial services, pharmaceuticals and media.

Karen Foy - Henley Business School Suomessa

Karen Foy

Karen is a Lecturer in Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School. She is a Master Certified Coach (MCC) with ICF and is a certified coach mentor.

As a past UK ICF Board Director she has led the professional development for UK Coaches and supported the local coaching groups around the country. She has worked with aspiring coaches from global organisations to support their development and learning towards becoming accredited coaches, providing training, mentoring and supervision.
