The quiet leader

The unexpected world of business is a podcast series by Henley Business School that explores topics you wouldn’t normally associate with business.

It’s fair to say the long-held view that leaders should be heroic and charismatic has been changing for some time. Do you have to be outgoing and extroverted to be an inspirational and effective leader?

Claire Collins, Professor of Leadership at Henley Business School, discovered that a growing number of people in leadership positions are identifying as ‘quiet leaders’ – a description that encapsulates thinking from the likes of Susan Cain and Jim Collins. She joins host Mark Swain to discuss how her research argues (without shouting) against the misbelief.
