How to choose the right MBA?

On 20 September 2011, Talouselämä wrote about the topic ”How to choose the right MBA”. As an MBA is a big investment, both in terms of time and money, it is crucial to choose the programme that fits best with your needs. The article lists five tips on how to find out whether a programme is suitable for you.

1. Professors

International professors bring new dimensions to the programme. Make sure you check out who is teaching in the programme before you make a decision.

2. Ask for experiences of former students

Contact current students or graduates and ask how they experienced the programme. It will help you in your decision making.

3. Choose with whom you want to network

Networking gives added value to the MBA programme. Find out who is going to participate in the same group with you and keep in mind that it is important to network with people from different industries.

4. Accreditations

Accreditations guarantee that the MBA programme follows a certain quality standard. In Finland, there are only three business schools with triple-accreditation. Decide how big is the value of accreditations for you.

5. Think about your time consumption

Time management is usually the hardest part of studying. Most of the programmes can be completed while working full-time. Find out what is the best solution for you. Do you want to study full-time or part-time?
