Alumni of the month: Arno Ahosniemi, Executive Editor-in-Chief, Kauppalehti

Alumni of the month is a news series of interviews where we feature Henley Business School alumni from various fields of business. In the interviews, our alumni share what were the most important lessons they learned during their studies and how studying at Henley has impacted both the career and personal life. In addition, you will also get insights on what are the keys to success in each alumnusโ€™ field of business.

1. What were the most important lessons you learned at Henley Business School?

The most important lesson was deepening my knowledge in different areas of corporate governance, including funding, strategy, responsibility, and HR. I also learned to approach problems from new perspectives and, of course, had the chance to build networks with interesting people.

2. In what ways did studying at Henley change your life?

It feels easier to tackle problems at work now that I have more theoretical knowledge. I have also honed my information seeking skills that are needed for fixing the problems.

3. What is the importance of networks in todayโ€™s business?

The importance of networking has not diminished in todayโ€™s working life โ€“ quite the opposite. Although various digital channels enable easy communication, personal contacts remain extremely important. No-one can succeed alone in working life. The key to all development is rich discussion with different individuals.

4. What is happening in your field at the moment, what are the keys to success?

In the media sector, digitalisation and the availability of easy production methods have been the most significant change drivers for a long time now. Today, anyone can produce text, video and audio material and share them on a range of digital channels. The winners swear by reliable content, strong brands, ability to change and digitalised products. It is also important to understand technology and have an idea of how to manage a digital organisation.
