Heads Together and Row - Henley Business School Finland

And they're off!

Heads Together and Row have officially started the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2018.

The crew – Toby, Alison, Jeremy and Justin – left the harbour in La Gomera, Canary Islands, at 11.45am on 12 December 2018, beginning their attempt to row 3,000 miles across the ocean to Antigua. They are also aiming to set a new world record for the fastest mixed-four crossing from east to west, which currently stands at 56 days.

Their boat, Trilogy, is number 24 in the race. There are 28 boats taking part, carrying more than 80 competitors between them.

The map below gives you an idea of exactly how far the crew will have to travel. Bear in mind they are rowing in pairs, in two-hour shifts, 24-7, which means theyโ€™ll never have more than two hours at a time to eat and sleepโ€ฆ

How to follow their progress

As their headline partner, Henley Business School will be providing regular updates on the teamโ€™s progress during the race.

You can also follow the teams progress on the tracker:

The crew are the focus of a research project by Henley academics, looking at individual and team resilience. They will be recording video diaries throughout the race which will be analysed by Dr Caroline Rook.

They will also be raising funds and awareness for Heads Together campaign charities Mind and Combat Stress, and the Marine Conservation Society.

Everyone at Henley Business School wishes them the best of luck for the race and we look forward to following their journey!
