Masterclass: How leadership boosts organization's energy?
This fall the Masterclass was arranged in cooperation with Fiskars Oyj. The topic was how leadership boosts organisationäs energy. Why is it that some companies buzz with energy and create ongoing creativity, innovation and performance while other organisations are suffering from stagnation, or destructive internal fights and fall for low performance?
Dr Bernd Vogel from Henley Business School shared with us some of his latest research into this topic. Vogel pointed out how to develop our organisations energy to next level. What is energy in organisations? "It is the fuel for change and performance but an organisation needs consistently develop and lead energy." Vogel demonstrated a framework designed for analysing current status of energy in terms of intensity.
Productive high-positive energy should be maintained by enabling re-charging opportunities and by building vitalising management systems. High-negative energy can be very corrosive for the organization and one should re-focus the energy towards positive side by building a strong organisational identity and purpose. Low-negative or low-positive energy could be developed into high-positive energy by "slaying the dragon" or by "winning the princess". Slaying the dragon refers to strengthening people's confidence in case of a threat. Winning the princess means strengthening people's confidence to achieve an opportunity.
Thomas Enckell, President for Garden EMEA, continued in this theme sharing Fiskar's strenghts, strategy and experience of increasing positive energy in their organisation.
